Privacy Policy
Effective 17 October 2026. Applies to the Video to Text app for Windows published by HAYAH.
The short version
Video to Text transcribes your files on your own PC, fully offline. It never uploads your audio, your video, your transcripts or anything about them, and has no account and no advertising. It sends anonymous usage events (which features were used and what happened), which you can turn off in Settings.
Your files
The app reads only the files you add or drop onto it, and writes only the text and subtitle files you ask for. File contents, file names, folder names and transcripts never leave your device.
Stored on your PC
Your settings and the random install identifier used for usage events are kept in the app's own storage on your PC. Uninstalling the app removes them.
Network use
Transcription itself needs no internet connection. The app connects to the internet only for:
- Usage events, described below, sent to transcriber.hayah.dev unless you turn them off.
- Microsoft Store services, to check whether you own Lifetime Unlock or a 7-Day Pass, to buy them, and to show the Store's own rating dialog. Payment is handled entirely by Microsoft: HAYAH never sees your payment details, name or email address. Microsoft's handling of that is described in the Microsoft Privacy Statement.
Usage events
The app sends anonymous usage events: which features were used and what happened. For example: that the app was opened, that files were added and how many, that a transcription started, finished or failed and the general reason, that the unlock page was opened and whether a purchase or restore succeeded or failed, or that the rating prompt was shown. Each event carries the app version, the edition, the country as reported by our network provider (Cloudflare), a random identifier for that app session and a one-way hash of a random identifier created when the app was installed. That identifier is not linked to your Microsoft account.
Events never contain your audio or video or anything that could identify it: no file names, folder names or paths, no file contents, no audio and no transcripts. Our server refuses any event that could carry text. We use the events only to improve the app, keep them for up to 180 days, and do not sell or share them. You can turn them off at any time in Settings; the app then sends nothing and discards anything not yet sent.
Diagnostics
Apart from the usage events above, the app sends no diagnostics of its own. Windows may send crash reports to Microsoft according to your Windows diagnostic settings, and Microsoft may share aggregated reports with HAYAH through Partner Center. These contain no audio, video or file names.
Children
The app does not ask anyone, including children, for personal information. The usage events above are anonymous and are the same for every user.
