Source code

Video to Text includes FFmpeg (ffmpeg.org), which runs as a separate program (ffmpeg.exe and ffprobe.exe in the app's install folder). FFmpeg is free software licensed under the GNU Lesser General Public License version 2.1 or later, and the copy we ship includes LAME (LGPL), Opus, Ogg and Vorbis (BSD) and zlib. This page gives you the complete source code of that copy and the exact way it was built, so you can study it, change it and build your own.

To run the app with your own build, open Settings, choose "FFmpeg from a folder I choose" under Media engine (FFmpeg) and pick the folder holding your ffmpeg.exe and ffprobe.exe. The app then uses your copy instead of the bundled one.

What we ship

FFmpeg 9.0.2 (tag n9.0.2, unmodified), built on Windows with MSYS2 MINGW64 as static executables. The same x64 executables are in the x64 and the ARM64 app packages. No GPL or non-free parts are enabled. SHA-256 of the programs in the package:

ffmpeg.exe b91418bce4aeaf47ac6ecc94941a4ed5e6a2daf19d04b35ee271ba3cdf24b8ba
ffprobe.exe c3f9606841656c9135de1ebb3b05bf52ecc198752929f5085bbf25c220d55136

FFmpeg's release tarball is signed by the FFmpeg release key (signature). The mingw-w64-*.src.tar.zst files are the exact MSYS2 source packages of the static libraries we linked (LAME 3.100, libogg 1.3.6, libvorbis 1.3.7, Opus 1.6.1, zlib 1.3.2): each holds the upstream source, MSYS2's patches and the build recipe (PKGBUILD), and is signed by MSYS2 (lame-3.100-3, libogg-1.3.6-1, libvorbis-1.3.7-3, opus-1.6.1-1, zlib-1.3.2-2). Checksums: SHA256SUMS.
